Cherry is a woody fruit crop. It belongs to the angiosperm genus, and the tree and fruit of this fruit are also called cherry. Extremely tolerant and adaptable to almost all types of soil. It tolerates low temperatures, it gives birth in early spring, so next to strawberries it is considered the first fruit of the season. Along with apricots and cherries, sour cherries are the first fruit to bloom in spring. The flowers are white and large, it blooms profusely with several flowers grouped in one inflorescence. It has a small dark red fruit, with a sour taste, extremely nutritionally rich and healthy, and is recommended to literally everyone. It is used for making juices, creams, jams, wine, but also strong drinks – liqueurs and brandy. It can be eaten fresh, which is the best, because then its nutritional value is greatest.

Because of its numerous benefits, the cherry is also called a noble fruit. Nations knew about its healing properties and importance two and a half millennia ago, when they began to cultivate it. Sour cherries began to be grown in Turkey and Greece, from where they moved to the rest of the world. Today it is grown on all continents, adapted to the climate and conditions. The sour cherry that we most often consume and grow was created by crossing already cultivated domestic sweet cherries with wild sour species.
